Stroke Café helps People with Aphasia

Stroke CafeCommunicate better, even years after a stroke. Share news articles with a small group of other adults who have difficulty speaking, understanding, reading or writing. We can help you find your words!

This group program combines one-on-one coaching with the challenge of talking to a small group. A coach – a Speech-Language Pathologist or volunteer – helps adults who have had strokes to read and understand a news article. Then they prepare and practice a short report. Finally, they share the report with the group – with their coach’s support. SpeechWorks trains all the volunteers to support people with aphasia.
